DARF Members Enjoy Visit with USAC's Winningest Drivers
(Pictures Courtesy of Isaacs Photos)
USAC's Dick Jordan, DARF Hall of Fame Members Jack Hewitt, Mel Kenyon and Tom Bigelow, and announcer Gary Lee pose for a once-in-a-lifetime photo after an amazing interview session.
If you consider yourself a racefan and you were anywhere near Dayton, OH on Tuesday September 24th, the first regular membership meeting was the place to be. Starting with race cars and drivers and car owners in the parking lot to talk to was just a warm up for what was to come later in the evening. Members and guests enjoyed a meal and drinks, and were then treated to two roundtable discussions during the evening.
The first panel of "entertainers" began with USAC's Dick Jordan who introduced internationally famed announcer Gary Lee. Gary then began the interview process with Jack Hewitt, Mel Kenyon, and Tom Bigelow. If you were unable to attend, you missed some great stories.
Four of our displaying car owners then came to the stage. Thanks to Marvin Goins, John Goins, Bob McConnell, and Johnny Lawhorne who gathered on stage to share their experiences. A big thanks to Dennis Motter who also brought out his car but was unable to stay for the meeting.
